1st Fighter Association Officers
2010-2011
PRESIDENT- JIM “RACQUET” HARDENBROOK
Col. [Ret] Hardenbrook was honored to be elected 1st Fighter Association President in Sept 2009. Prior to that, he was Association Vice-President from ’05-’09. Jim spent 28.5 years in numerous positions of leadership in the USAF. Jim was assigned to both UbonRTAB and CamRhan AB flying F-4C/D/E aircraft during SEA hostilities accumulating 480 combat hours and 186 missions, 100 of which were over NVN. During CONUS assignments, he held numerous positions of leadership to include 71st TFS Operations Officer, 27th TFS Commander, 35th TTW Wing Commander at George AFB, and retired from the Air Force following an assignment as 1st Air Force Deputy Commander for Operations. Upon Air Force retirement, Col Hardenbrook joined the staff of United Technologies Corporation in Washington DC, rising thru various Business Development positions finishing as Director of Domestic Business Development for Pratt & Whitney Military Engine Division. Upon retiring from UTC, Jim opened EJH Incorporated, a Defense Consulting business and assisted various clients on Defense related issues until Dec’09.
Vice President - Bob Correia
Bob served with the 27th FIS (F-106’s) from 1960 to 1964 as an Aircraft Electrician. Following his service tour and a short stint in 1965 with Northrup Nortronics, he went to work for the Federal Government (Navy) at the Quonset Point Naval Aircraft Overhaul Facility. At Quonset Bob was promoted to the Electrical Engineering Branch and worked on A-1, A-4, A-6, S-2, E-1B, H-2 H-3 aircraft and helicopters. In 1974 Quonset Point NAS closed and Bob transferred to the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC), Newport RI. While at NUWC Bob worked in the Submarine Combat Systems Dept. and the Combat Systems Switchboards Branch on both SSN and SSBN submarines. Bob retired in 1996 after 36 ½ years with the DOD as a GS-12. Bob has been a member of the Association since 1991.
Secretary/Treasurer – Pete Marty
Col. (Ret) Pete Marty began his career as a United States Air Force Officer and retired in the rank of colonel after 26 years of distinguished service. Colonel Marty held the aeronautical ratings of Command Pilot and Navigator and accumulated over 3000 flying hours in the T-29, T-37, T-38, F-4 and F-15 aircraft. He flew 120 combat missions in Vietnam and over Iraq in Operation Southern Watch. During his service, Pete performed as a Flight Commander in the 27th Fighter Squadron and as the 1st Fighter Wing Operations Group Commander. Pete retired to Blacksburg, Virginia in 2010 after serving for 14 years as a Contract Manager at NASA Langley Research Center. He is in his third term as the Association’s Secretary/Treasurer.

71st Squadron President Jon Goldenbaum
Jon Goldenbaum grew up in general aviation and flew for a living before joining the Air Force in 1968. His first assignment was a combat tour flying A-1 Skyraiders. He attained the aeronautical rating of Command Pilot with over 5000 flying hours in the T-38, F-111, OV-10, F-5E, and F-15 as well as 161 combat missions in Vietnam. In the 1st Wing, he served as ADO of the 27th, DO of the 94th and CC of the 71st. After being selected for 0-6 he retired to fly for Delta Airlines, then became involved in businesses restoring antique and classic aircraft. He is currently president of Poly Fiber, Inc. He currently flies and instructs in a variety of aircraft including a Navy N3-N biplane, a Bonanza, a DC-3, and a C-47 at historic Flabob airport in Riverside, CA.
94TH SQUADRON PRESIDENT - JUMBO WRAY
Col. (Ret) Jumbo Wray began his career as a United States Air Force Officer through Officers Training School and retired in the rank of colonel after 28.5 years of distinguished service. Col Wray held the aeronautical rating of Command Pilot, accumulating over 4,800 flying hours in the T-37, T-38, F-100, F-4 C,D,E, F-15 A-C models and the F-15E, OV-10, A-10, F-16 Block 15-52. He flew over 510 combat hours in Viet Nam, majority ofwhich were in the north. During his service, Jumbo was selected as part of the initial cadre for the 1st Tactical Fighter Wing’s staff, as a pilot for the 27th and 71st Fighter Squadrons, Flight Commander in the 94th Fighter Squadron, and as Deputy Commander for Operations. Jumbo fully retired after serving for 3 years as a Jr. ROTC Instructor in Manning, South Carolina and 10 years as the Operations Manager for the United States Air Force F-15 school house, Tyndall Air Force Base. He is in his first term as President of the 94th.
